Since it appears that terrorism will be rewarded
by the creation of a “Palestinian” state next to Israel, it might be
productive to consider an alternative configuration for such a state
instead of the currently proposed non-contiguous regions of the West Bank
and Gaza Strip. Of course, the sine qua non of an independent state
for Palestinians must include a cessation of all violence against
the Jewish state and a demonstrated respect of Israel’s right to
exist within secure borders. Since the rampaging savages in the so-called
“occupied territories” can’t refrain from their favorite pastime of
murdering Jews for even 24 hours, some sensitive people have suggested
that the Israeli insistence of an absolute cessation of violence for 7
whole days is unrealistic, and that the Israelis will simply have to put
up with the murder of an acceptable number of their citizens in order to
achieve a “peace” settlement, or even after a “peace” settlement has been
agreed upon. Some Israelis (mostly on the Left) have actually become
convinced that this is not too high a price to pay, particularly if the
sacrificial victims come from the “settler” or the “ultra-Orthodox”
segments of the population.
As more time goes on, and Israelis ponder and become
used to the idea that all the “settlements” must be abandoned, and
more “territory” must be yielded, and the Jewish holy places must be
turned over to the Muslims, a new “Berlin Wall” constructed in Jerusalem,
and implacable enemies given a “right” to “return” to Israel itself,
overthrowing the precarious demographic balance… as the Israelis get
accustomed to yielding ever more desperate concessions in their quest for
an elusive “peace agreement,” the Arabs get accustomed to getting
everything they want, while giving absolutely nothing in return!
The theory of “Land For Peace” has become the reality of “Land For
Terrorism.”
Now that U.S. envoy Anthony Zinni has arrived in the
Mideast, Palestinian “militants” are operating with impunity. They are
confident that they can kill a dozen Jews every day and still expect that
all their demands will be met. Empty promises are made to “arrest” those
responsible (the ones who have not yet gone on to meet their virgins) and
then the whining and moaning about the “cycle of violence” and “the
occupation.”
It should be as clear as the midday sun that
back-to-back suicide bombings designed for maximum civilian carnage are
not the same as surgical eliminations of those responsible for planning
such bombings. It should also be as clear as the midday sun that the
Israelis do not actively seek out and target innocents, and are deeply
dismayed when children are used by the Palestinians as “human shields.”
It should be as clear as the midday sun that a
“Palestinian State” will not bring peace, but will provide a safe haven
for terrorists, and the killing will go on and on and on.
Jews cry: Ad mosai? Oh G-d, for how
much longer must this go on?
On September 11, Americans had a taste of what
Israelis must go through DAY after DAY after DAY.
Ad mosai? How much longer?
Ad mosai? President Bush needs to give
a clear signal to Israel to go ahead and eliminate the seat of terrorism
once and for all. The President has already stated that the Palestinian
Authority must “act swiftly and decisively” to eliminate terror, but he
must back up his ultimatum by giving Israel the signal to defend itself
against all terrorists and against those who harbor them.
How much longer?
